New CEO Appointed for Barrow Brain and Spine

Kinna_John 150515_v1Barrow Brain and Spine, the largest physician-owned neurological and spine practice in Arizona, has appointed John Kinna as Chief Executive Officer.

“Kinna brings strong leadership skills and the experience and knowledge necessary to help us achieve success,” said Robert Spetzler, MD, president of Barrow Brain and Spine. “He will help us aim to position ourselves as the world-class model for excellence in neurosurgery and advanced spine care through our commitment to sound and innovative medical practice, a profound dedication to our patients, and our affiliation with Barrow Neurological Institute,” he continued.

Kinna, a seasoned healthcare leader with more than 27 years of experience in medical group practice leadership and management of multi-specialty groups for free-standing and integrated healthcare delivery systems, offers a unique perspective and relatable approach to internal and external stakeholders alike.

Before joining Barrow Brain and Spine , Kinna was the Director of Provider and Institutional Provider Programs at Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Montana. He also served as the Director of the St. Vincent Physician Network, a 165 physician multi-specialty group in Billings, MT, and the Vice President of Physicians Services with the Providence, St. Mary Medical Center in Walla Walla, WA. Spetzler explains that Kinna has a unique understanding of the communities BNA serves on a local, national and global level.

Kinna is a member of the Medical Group Management Association as well as the Arizona Medical Group Management Association.  He has served as the President and Past President of the Montana MGMA.  John grew up in Fairfield, MT, and attended Montana State University in Bozeman earning a degree in Physical Education/Health Management as well as earning a Master’s degree in Healthcare Administration from Kennedy-Western University. John is an avid outdoorsman and enjoys spending time with his family.
