Begin Your Neurosurgical Treatment Journey with Barrow Brain and Spine

Your relationship with any doctor should be based on understanding and trust. At Barrow, we believe your initial interactions with our staff and our physicians set the stage for the rest of your treatment and recovery. We're dedicated to setting you and your family up for success, clearly outlining what you'll need to know, answering your questions, and alleviating any fears.

Requesting an Appointment for Neurosurgical Diagnosis & Care

Getting started may seem overwhelming, but we’re here to ensure you feel confident and informed at every step. Many of our patients are referred to us by their treating physician, but you can also contact us directly.

  • If you’ve been referred to a specific physician, please call (602) 406-3181 to be routed to the appropriate office.
  • For all other patients, please contact our Patient Navigator at (602) 406-8450, and we’ll route you to the right physician for your needs.

Once you’ve connected with the Patient Navigator, you’ll be instructed to send over any pertinent medical records and radiological films. Our physician team will then take a close look at your documentation to determine the next steps.

Becoming a Brain or Spine Patient

The more information we have about you and your diagnosis, the better equipped we’ll be to provide accurate and thoughtful care. Depending on your specific physician, you may be required to provide different documents and records; however, you’ll likely need:

  • Your insurance card and referral if required.
  • Recent MRI scans, x-rays, medical records, treatment reports, and any other diagnostic test information.
  • Your basic information, such as address, phone number, email, and date of birth.

Upon review, our physicians will determine if you are a candidate for surgery. If so, we’ll recommend a consultation.

If you’re not a candidate for surgery, we offer nonsurgical options as well through our pain management, rehabilitation, and wellness practice.

Once you’ve been matched with a dedicated physician, you’ll be asked to complete specific patient forms before coming in for your first appointment. Your physician’s office support team will provide you with this information and answer any additional questions you may have prior to your appointment.

What to Expect at Your First Appointment

Please plan to arrive 30 minutes prior to your first appointment, just in case you need extra time filling out any additional forms, and so that we can best help you with any questions you may have.

Because you’ve done your part to prepare for your first appointment, we come prepared as well. We extensively review your provided documentation to ensure we’re giving you the attention and care you deserve.

This will be your first chance to meet with your dedicated physician. This is a major part of feeling comfortable and confident in your decision to seek treatment at Barrow, and we don’t take this decision lightly. Your physician will perform an initial assessment and work with you to develop a customized treatment plan.
