Thank You, Dr. Fusco

Dr. David Fusco, MD

It was more than a successful back surgery that prompted patient Allan E. Cooper to reach out and thank Barrow Brain and Spine Neurosurgeon, Dr. David Fusco. It was the lifesaving care and attention he received from Dr. Fusco following his surgery that prompted this letter of appreciation. Read more below…

I recently had lower back surgery performed by Dr. David Fusco with outstanding results. But that is not what I want to convey to you. The surgery was performed on 7 March 2016 and my recovery was uneventful. I returned for a follow up visit on April 20, 2016 and I was conveying to Dr. Fusco that while my back was feeling great, I did not feel right. I was a little light headed and got out of breath easily. Dr. Fusco suggested that I go to the ER to be checked out before I returned home. I live about 6 hours away and I was a little hesitant because of the time it would take. At that point, he was a little insistent, saying he would call the ER and tell them I was coming.

Well, to make a long story short, I went to the ER and discovered that I had a saddle pulmonary embolism which they treated successfully. I spent a week in ICU.

I truly believe if it had not been for Dr. Fusco’s perceptive interpretation of my condition and his persuasion of me going to the ER, I would not have survived the 6 hour drive home. I believe without a doubt that he saved my life. During my stay in the hospital, he dropped by several times to check on how I was doing.

Dr. Fusco is not only an outstanding surgeon, he is also a very caring and compassionate person and I want to be sure that his actions do not go unnoticed.
